Job Description
Electrical Apprentice / Helper Position Summary The Electrical Apprentice/Helper assists licensed electricians and experienced electrical technicians with the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are interested in learning the electrical trade while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Assist electricians with residential and/or commercial electrical installations and repairs.
- Carry tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to and from work areas.
- Assist with pulling wire, installing conduit, mounting electrical boxes, and other basic electrical tasks under supervision.
- Help prepare and clean work areas before, during, and after jobs.
- Safely use basic hand tools and power tools as directed.
- Follow instructions from electricians, supervisors, and project leads.
- Follow company safety policies, jobsite procedures, and applicable electrical safety requirements.
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep company vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, contractors, and other trades.
- Attend required safety meetings, training, and apprenticeship-related instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications No previous electrical experience required; construction or electrical experience is a plus. Willingness and ability to learn the electrical trade. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools after proper instruction. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred. Must comply with company safety policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements - Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces when required.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties required of the position.
Work Expectations The Electrical Apprentice/Helper is expected to maintain a professional attitude, follow all safety requirements, take direction from supervisors, care for company property and equipment, and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop the skills necessary to advance within the electrical trade.
